The Lady Trojan Varsity Softball team previously clinched the Region VIII A Championship and they won the district championship on May 1st.  They finished the regular season with a 13-1 overall record and a 10-0 sweep of the region.  Way to go ladies!   District playoffs began on April 26th for the Lady Trojans.  They are now 16-1 and going to the Lower State Playoffs.  Coach Doug Hinson promised the team that if they won the region championship, he would allow the team to buzz his head.  Coach Hinson recently lived up to the promise.  Too see more photos, click here.

GSFM/H Wins Seven Awards at the Third Annual Technology Fair
Over 700 students from Horry County competed at the Technology Fair on Wednesday, April 4th, and out of GSFM/H’s 11 teams, we took home 7 awards!!! These students worked on their technology projects at least two days a week after school since January. Their hard work and dedication paid off. At the fair, students' projects were on display for other competitors, HCS students/staff, and the public. Students were judged by two members of the business community and had to answer questions about their project.

GSFH Students Participate in the SCASC State Convention
Colby Floyd and Anastazia Herrington attended the 64th annual South Carolina Association of Student Councils State Convention from March 16 – 18 along with advisors, Mrs. Robin Donaldson and Ms. Heather Levine.  The convention was held at Wade Hampton High School in Greenville, SC.  The theme was “Leadership and All That Jazz.”  The convention was a house convention which means students stayed with families from the Wade Hampton area.  Students that participated were involved in many activities.  They attended workshops, participated in meetings, and heard keynote speakers.  An awards banquet on Saturday night was followed by a dance.  The banquet and dance were held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. GSFH won the Silver Honor Council Award and Colby Floyd, a sophomore, was elected District Two Chair.  GSFH will host the district rally in October.  Our district consists of Sumter, Lee, Darlington, Williamsburg, Georgetown, Horry, Marlboro, Dillon, Marion, Florence, and Clarendon Counties.

Congratulations to Colby and Anastazia for representing our student council and GSFH so well!
