2024-2025 GSFHS AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING FAQ’S

  1. What is the purpose of after-school tutoring?

    • The purpose of after-school tutoring is to provide individualized & small group attention to students who need additional help with a specific skill or standard.

    • Tutoring may also be used to prep for EOCs, makeup testing, digital content, or other approved activities.

  2. Who is allowed to tutor students?

    • All CORE teachers are allowed to tutor students.

  3. How often is after school tutoring?

    • Tutoring will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5:15 PM.

  4. How will tutoring be offered?

    • ALL students who are staying after school for tutoring will report directly to the Media Center at dismissal.  Teachers will pick up their students from the Media Center. This process will help us to keep a better record of students who are staying and assist with making sure that students are supervised at all times.

  5. Can another teacher tutor my students?

    • Another teacher may tutor your students, provided that the teacher of record has communicated with the student, parent, and other teacher involved prior to a student staying after-school for tutoring.

    • All CORE teachers must provide a tutoring option, and this may be fulfilled by another teacher providing these services.

  6. Will there be bus transportation for students staying for tutoring?

    • YES, Bus Transportation will be provided! If you have students who will be participating in tutoring, please give them the Student Tutoring Form to get Parental Permission. Once the student returns the form, please submit that form to Mrs. Leslie Martin so that she can communicate with the bus office.  Once students have been cleared for bus transportation, they will be added to the attached Approved Tutoring Bus Transportation List.

    • If students do not require bus transportation, they may begin immediately.
